Description

The California 3 Goldback – Limited Early Release (70 Grade) is part of the Goldback system of physical fractional gold currency. A 3 Goldback contains 0.003000 troy oz of 24-karat gold, based on the standard relationship of one Goldback unit equaling 1/1,000 of a troy ounce of gold.

Goldbacks are produced by depositing a precisely measured layer of 24K gold between durable polymer layers, then adding detailed region-specific artwork and security elements. The California design belongs to a regional Goldback series rather than a government-issued legal-tender coin. This example is identified as a limited early-release 70-grade collectible.

Frequently Asked Questions:

Q: How much gold is in this Goldback?
A: A 3 Goldback contains 0.003000 troy oz of 24-karat gold.

Q: Is a Goldback a traditional bullion coin?
A: No. It is a thin, flexible fractional-gold currency product made by bonding a measured amount of gold within polymer layers.

Q: Are different Goldback denominations proportional in gold content?
A: Yes. The denomination reflects the amount of gold in thousandths of a troy ounce, so higher denominations contain proportionally more gold.

Q: Is a Goldback U.S. legal tender?
A: No. Goldbacks are privately issued complementary currency products rather than coins issued as United States legal tender.
